Geographically positioned in the Fraser Coast region of south east Queensland, Cooloola is one of Australia's fastest growing regions. The Cooloola Shire boasts a population of 36,500 people and rising. No surprise - considering the sub-tropical warm to hot summers and temperate winters. The temperature of the water has a low variance allowing water-based recreational activities year-round.
Between nearby Gympie, Rainbow Beach, Tin Can Bay, Amamoor, Kandanga and Imbil, the Cooloola district has tourism and a wealth of activities covered. The historical village of Maryborough, Fraser Island the world's largest sand island, and Noosa some of Australia's finest beaches are just a short drive away.
The unjustly lesser known, but glorious Cooloola National Park is one of the main drawcards of the shire. A national park of beautiful contrasts that covers 56 000ha. Comprising stretches of peaceful everglades, coastal wildflower plains, beaches, dramatic coloured sand cliffs and rolling surf and is the largest tract of natural land on Queensland's southern coast.
