Heading west from along the Cunningham Highway is the Inglewood Shire with the twin towns of Inglewood and Texas. Experience the closest Outback Experience to Brisbane and the Gold Coast. Inglewood was established in 1862, the first building being Browns Inn near the area where Patrick Leslie had crossed the McIntyre Brook in 1940.
Inglewood is creating Australia's Olive Capital, emerging as the hub of the Olive industry with many major groves on its borders and a major processing facility opened March 2000. Harvest time is between March and May and is becoming a popular tourist time.
A truly Mediterranean climate exists with four definite seasons. The area is an ever-changing landscape of colour and crops. Escape the coastal humidity for the drier inland climates and silver frosts drape the countryside on some of the beautiful crisp winter country mornings.
Centrally located in the south west of Qld, Inglewood is situated on the Cunningham Highway 91km east of Goondiwindi and 109km west of Warwick. It is the gateway to the south as the alternate and very scenic route to Tamworth via Texas and Inverell.
