The South Burnett Region Timber Museum in Wondai was officially opened on 24 November 2001 and is proving to be a popular destination with travellers. Conveniently situated on the main Bunya Highway, and with ample parking for cars, caravans and coaches, it is an impressive addition to Wondai which is becoming a popular 'tourist stop' on the burgeoning South Burnett Wine Trail.
The traditional timber structure is flanked by life-size sculptures of a bullocky and his bullocks, an old water-well and post and rail fence. Inside the Museum is a wonderful diorama featuring a typical bullockies' wagon camp, including a bullock dray belonging to local identity, the late Norm Stimpson. Set against authentic wooden slabs and shingles, are also displays of South Burnett timbers and photos of the early timber industry in the South Burnett.
In 2003 the Woodcrafters Workshop was added to the complex. Local woodcrafters regularly demonstrate their skills.
