Located south-west of Blackall in Queensland, Idalia is a large park with small permanent waterholes and open eucalypt woodlands. Explore the gorges and rock formations of Idalia’s Gowan Range tablelands, emerging from the dense mulga for surprise views of rugged escarpments. This 144,000ha park protects extensive mulga woodlands, the headwaters of the Bulloo River and threatened wildlife, including a translocated population of bridled nailtail wallabies. It is home to yellow-footed rock-wallaby and has abundant birdlife. The summer temperatures are extreme so it is best to visit in winter.
