Lizard Island is Australia's most northern island resort and one of the world's most exclusive. There are lush rainforests and wildflowers and of course powder white beaches, clear water and the vivid coral gardens of the sea ideal for swimming and snorkelling.
There are plenty of bushwalks and wildlife. On at least one you can expect to glimpse a Monitor, the lizard after which Lizard Island was named.
A popular track leads to Cook's Look, the peak on which Captain Cook stood to find passage through the Great Barrier Reef. Lizard boasts 24 pristine beaches that range from white sand to rocky escarpments and easy access to some of the best scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef.
Lizard Island is renowned for its scuba diving and snorkelling and is surrounded by coral reefs, ribbon and lagoon reefs. But its Lizard Island’s close proximity to the best known diving location in the Great Barrier Reef, Cod Hole, that distinguishes it from many other reef islands.
