The Great Barrier Reef is one of the natural wonders of the world with significant international importance. The Great Barrier Reef is a designated World Heritage Area stretching more than 2,300km along the northeast coast of Australia from the northern tip of Queensland to just north of Bundaberg. Recreational use of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park is concentrated around the major regional centres of Cairns, Townsville and Airlie Beach in the Whitsundays.
