Your "drive to" Island. Swim year round in the perfect sub tropical climate at the beautiful un-spoilt beach resort of Boyne Island/Tannum Sands, just 15 minutes drive south of Gladstone and just 5 hours drive North of Brisbane. It is 9k from the Bruce Highway via good sealed roads at Benaraby, one of the safest beaches in Queensland.

Miles of glorious coastline, golden sandy beaches, azure blue waters, the 20k "Turtle Way" walking trails that allows you to view abundant bird, marine adn wildlife - even a large kangaroo colony in their natural habitat at Canoe Point, acres of parklands, spectacular Millennium Esplanade directly on the beachfront - make this area the holidaymakers mecca and photographers dream.

The waters here are popular for swimming, snorkelling, windsurfing, boating and fishing abundant with Barramundi, prawns, mud crabs, scallops in season. Tropical fruits are an added delicacy. The "Boyne Tannum Hookup" - one of Australia's largest fishing competitions is held annually on the Queens Birthday long weekend. State of the art boat ramps are situated at Bray Park in the acres of parklands, which hug the Boyne River.

Excellent restaurants, shopping centre, Country Club with Golf, Lawn Bowls, tennis etc cater for all holidaymakers.

Surrounded by national parks, our area offer scenic daytrips to Koombit Tops to see the WWII plane crash site of "Beautiful Betsy" and enjoy spectacular views from the lookout. Also, explore Many Peaks Range and majestic Cania Gorge, Ghetto Valley Winery, Tendon and the Botanical Gardens.

Gladstone Marina has day ferry trips to Curtis and Facing Island and is the stepping off point to the world famous Heron Island right on the Great Barrier Reef, 60k due east of here. Charters are also available for deep-sea fishing, diving and snorkelling.
