Staircase Range and Lookout

Overview

The range is named after a sandstone escarpment that has naturally formed in the shape of a staircase. See the old wagon road which was cut into the sandstone by pick and crowbar in the early settlement years. A great history lesson and a must see and do while in the Central Highlands.

While exploring the area, there are facilities for camping, picnicking and barbeques. Keep an eye open for rare species, birdwatching and fantastic tracks for bushwalking.
