Moore Park is a relaxed beachside community, located 21 kilometres north of Bundaberg. The long straight road through the sugarcane fields and macadamia nut orchards ends at over 20 kilometres of golden sand lining a gentle curve of beach, backed by she-oak casuarinas, pandanus and tea trees. Moore Park offers a range of low key activities, from swimming, fishing and beach walking, to bird watching - keep an eye out for the rare Coxan's Fig Parrot - found originally only in this area.
For those with more get up and go - the northern 10 kilometres of beach is great for Four Wheel Driving up to the picturesque sandy mouth of the Kolan River. Only the odd roofline can be seen from the beach, along with the distinctive water tower - which offers the feeling that you are a million miles from civilisation and care. Surf carnivals and the triathlons are the main events here, otherwise you're guaranteed a peaceful and quiet holiday - even during the peak Christmas holiday periods.
Under the cover of darkness, Moore Park is frequented by loggerhead and green nesting sea turtles during the summer months, followed eight weeks later by baby hatchings as they scamper from their sandy nests to the ocean. Due to the area's abundant nature reserves and dry rainforest pockets, birds, kangaroos and wallabies, emus and echidnas are common sites - especially in the late afternoon at Moore Park's northern and western fringes at Sylvan Sands and Golden Sands.
A kiosk, cafe, general store, petrol station and bowls club offer facilities.
