The historic village of Sandgate is located on the northern shores of Moreton Bay and is easily accessible by road and rail from Brisbane City Centre. Sandgate offers something for everyone. Enjoy strolls along the seafront walkway.

Picnickers take advantage of shady trees and barbecues on the foreshore, beside Cabbage Tree Creek and at Moora Park. Others take a relaxing stroll around one of the lagoons or the Wetland reserves.

Features

  • Sandgate Town Hall - built in 1911, has become a distinct centre-piece for the area and, more recently, home to the local library. The town hall’s clocktower dominates Sandgate’s shopping precinct in Brighton Road
  • Sandgate Museum - A museum since 1994 - The Sandagate and District Historical Society and Museum offers guided tours, offering insight to the town and its people's history
  • Sandgate Pier - bask in the sun and sand or take a stroll through Shorncliffe’s Moora Park
  • Moonfest - Every Full Moon you will hear the rhythmic beating of drums on the beach at Shorncliffe as fire dancers and fire stick twirlers dance with the full moon rising
