Anniversary of the Bombing of Darwin 

On 19 February 1942, World War II was brought to the shores of Australia when the Japanese dropped bombs over Darwin. On this day 8 ships were sunk, 1 beached and lost, 3 were beached and later refloated and 11 were damaged.
