We have only been once a few weeks ago, with great friends and family, and are preparing now to visit again at last. The food was truly spectacular, service exceptional, wine list very impressive - nothing but accolades for chef and staff. We could have have been dining in any capital city by the high standards - except for the water (none)! I'll post again tomorrow.

Lovely setting, well fitted out and decorated, but the service and food quality was nowhere near what such expensive dishes demand. On a quiet week night, the kitchen was overwhelmed by a table of 8 with all ordering 3 courses, resulting in several dishes not turning up and others that had clearly been cooking for far too long and were nearly inedible. The manager needs to understand how this frustrates the customer and get the kitchen better organised.
Alice Springs has many fine restaurants and QC will have to lift its game if it wants to stay in the running and keep the local trade. A $40 main needs to have the service and respect for the customer to back it up. The tourist season only lasts so long, you need to have the support of the locals to stay viable on the off-season.
Response from QC Restaurant
I spoke with this table on th night, and the kitchen was far from being overwhelmed . There was one seafood dish that had been cooked a little long, but that sometimes happens. This fact was not brought to anyones attention until after everyone had finished eating, and it was not charged for. The dishes that were claimed to have not turned up were side dishes, and the table cancelled them before they arrived. Our majority of dishes are in the high $20's low $30 dollar bracket, and we are trying to bring not exceptional service to alice springs, but some new and innovative food. Its disapointing that despite talking with the table in question, and them all being satisfied in the end, that they would publish a somewhat innacurate account of the evening in a forum such as this.We have put our heart and soul into this business, and sometimes customers dont appreciate the fact that any business can not be 100% all of the time. We have had nothing but positive comments until now, and despite the fact that we have been open only 4 weeks , i believe we have performed very well in a difficult industry. glenn wallace, director QC Restaurant

This restaurant/cafe is a an example of some creative thinking, taking east coast ideas and implementing them in the heart of Australia. The restaurant is new, clean modern, and the food is truly amazing. The kitchen has big windows to the outside of the building, so you can see whats going on before or after you leave.Food portions are a good size, and we had three courses over the night. The wine list is extensive, and they offer all wines by the glass. We went there with some friends and the consensus was that it is one of if not the best restaurants in the Alice.
