Designed by Rev. John Flynn, construction of Adelaide House began in 1920. The unique design used a cellar with air ducting leading up into the building to provide cool air in summer.
It was opened in 1926 and served as the Australian Inland Mission bush hospital until a government hospital was opened in 1939.
