The town of Wymah is located very close to the border of Victoria, in the south east part of the Riverina. The town’s main claim to fame is the ferry and bridge that cross the Murray River. The bridge has been assessed as being of local significance.
There are only two ferries that cross the Murray, and the one at Wymah is dependent on the Hume weir water levels. This is a bit unreliable for travellers wanting to make a concrete itinerary for crossing the Murray but information on the service can be obtained from the RTA. The ferry carries 2 cars at a time and is free.
Lake Hume provides an ideal site for a diverse range of water sports to do during the warmer months. Popular pasttimes include sailing, waterskiing, windsurfing, jet skiing, wakeboarding, swimming and fishing. Golden Perch, Murray Cod, Silver Perch, Rainbow Trout and Brown Trout and Redfin have all been spotted.
