Wisemans Ferry (once a major river port on the Hawkesbury River) takes its name from the convict Soloman Wiseman, who was transported, in the early 19th Century for stealing timber. Wiseman died in 1848 and is buried in the local cemetery. The village atmosphere lends itself to leisure activities - a round of golf, bushwalking along the historic trail, water skiing or a weekend resort.
Wisemans Ferry has a range of accommodation from a hotel to houseboats, a water-ski ranch and caravan park.
