Arcadia is located 40 km northwest of the city near Hornsby.
The indigenous people of the Arcadia area were the Darug people. With European settlement, the area was logged to begin the establishments of some of Sydney’s first European colonies. Orchards and farms developed and the area soon became a vibrant and bustling region. The name Arcadia was first given to the public school and later given to the township. Opening in 1894, the school still teaches local children.
Arcadia is a tranquil, rural area in the Hills District. It offers a number of attractions including: parks, nurseries and other relaxing activities. The main drawcard to Arcadia is Fagan Park, a large landscaped park with picnic areas, an historic house and walks. It is home to the popular “Garden of Many Nations”, which showcases themed gardens including a Japanese, Meditation and Traditional English representations.
