Formerly the Royal Australian Naval Armament Depot (RANAD), Newington Armory features over 100 heritage buildings of different ages and types. Situated between the southern bank of the Parramatta River and the suburb of Newington and set among a 52 hectare riverside landscape of undulating hills and woodlands.
Newington Armory is Sydney’s best new arts precinct. There are facilities for performing and visual arts as well as new artist's facility comprising of an open plan studio that can accommodate up to 21 artists at a time, working in the disciplines of painting, sculpture, ceramics and printmaking.
