Journeys - Australian String Quartet 

Journey with the Australian String Quartet through Haydn's exuberant Fifths Quartet, the string quartet of renowned Australian composer Miriam Hyde, and Beethoven's extraordinary opus 131.

Haydn's Fifths Quartet, so named after its opening motif, travels from the eponymous first movement, through to the lyrical second movement and the famous Hexen (Witches) minuet, concluding with a spirited finale.

As a young composer Miriam Hyde declined a traditional path and instead travelled far from home and family to pursue her musical destiny. Here we visit her quartet of 1947 for the first time.
