The Biennale of Sydney is an international festival of contemporary art, held every two years in Sydney, Australia.
As Australia’s largest and most exciting contemporary visual arts event, the Biennale of Sydney is renowned for showcasing some of the most innovative and challenging contemporary art from Australia and around the world. For over 33 years, the Biennale of Sydney has provided an opportunity to see pioneering artworks and exciting artists. It is known for its variety and breadth, as well as its unpredictability.
The festival is held in Sydney’s leading museums and galleries including the Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Museum of Contemporary Art and features outdoor exhibition trails along the city’s glorious harbour foreshore. Most events are free!
The 16th Biennale of Sydney will open on 18 June 2008 with leading international curator and writer Carolyn Christov-Bakargiev as Artistic Director.
