Jolly Swagman 

Have stayed here a number of times. Great place to meet friends. Slightly over priced for what it is but good hostel all the same. Could do with my cups in the kitchen during the day! Looking for fun filled days/weeks this is defo worth a look!

If youre after fun and lots of social life and nights out this is def the place! By far the best atmosphere of any hostel Ive been in. the staff are really helpful and friendly too and the place is pretty clean. Watch out for the... colourful street residents tho (it is kings cross...). Def a no frills backpackers but what it lacks in flashier amenities it makes up for in charm lol

I've been in Sydney for a while and I must say that Jolly Swagman is one of the better hostels. It's big but friendly at the same time. The rooms and bathrooms are clean, the staff is awesome and you just feel at home. The only problem would be that the kitchen is a bit small for the number of people staying at the hostel. They have organized outings to bars for those who want to party - or you can just stay in and watch some movies on the bean bags. Loved my stay here and I would definitely recommend it to others.

On my first trip to Australia in 2005 I picked this hostel at random. The staff are friendly and will bend over backwards to help you. I went back 3 times in my 6 month trip. When I went back in March 2007 the staff remembered who I was (not sure if this is a good thing) and am arriving again in early July 2007. I will be checking into the Swagman again. It is a safe, clean and happy environment. Lots to do in the near locality, plenty of great deals at the local watering holes. An overall happy experience. Don't worry if you're travelling alone because after one night here you won't feel alone.
