Many Sydney siders from the Eastern Suburbs claim Bronte to be their favourite beach - it is much smaller than Bondi, and is particularly charming.

With parkland behind the beach, an ocean water pool, and fabulous cafes, Bronte is known as a beautiful family beach. This is the perfect place to relax - amongst the water, sand, leaves and the picturesque sandstone headlands.

Despite the seemingly beautiful aesthetics Bronte Beach does have three strong rips. There are averagely 127 rescues a year.

Things to do

  • Brunch at one of the sidewalk cafes. There are half a dozen cafes to choose from
  • Sizzle away on public barbeques in the park and discover Aussie culture
  • Do the famous coastal walk from Bondi to Coogee
  • Boogie board, surf or swim in the waves
  • Relax in the sun
  • An annual long distance swimming event is held in December each year between Bondi and Bronte
  • There are established rock pools at most of the beaches in Sydney and Bronte is no different. The pools are fantastic if you like the ocean but want to swim laps

Getting There

  • Public parking can be a nightmare on the weekend. Take public transport.
  • Located near Tamarama, Clovelly and Coogee beaches Bronte has good public transport. Take Sydney Central Rail Station Bus 378 from Liverpool Street in the Sydney CBD
  • Bronte is 2.5km south of Bondi Beach or 10.5km from the Sydney CBD
