Culburra Beach is the regional centre for coastal towns to the west of Nowra. With a population of around 3500 people, the town has grown from its humble beginnings as designed by Walter Burley Griffin, the architect of Canberra. Now, Culburra Beach is a thriving area with shops, cafes and a range of services to suit every local and holidaymaker.
The Nowra S.L.S.C patrols the beautiful beaches in the summer. With both beaches located on different sides of Penguin Head swimmers, surfers, families and fishermen have a range of conditions to choose from. The rocky headland is a renowned spot for fishing, both for recreation and sport.
Culburra Beach is a fantastic picnicking area with many opportunities adjacent to the beaches like Tilbury Cove and Crookhaven Heads. Tennis, squash and Bowling Club provide a getaway from the beaches where live bands play most weekends.
