Wonderful stopover

Posted by sylvia o'connor from engadine, Australia

We had just a night at this motel this year but have stayed there before and find it is the best value for money and friendliest motel around. I was amazed at that bad review. The kitchenette is a godsend and one you rarely find in a motel at the base price. Keep up the good work!

Charming Character, Fantastic Service , Beautiful Location and Great Value

Posted by Luke from Willoughby

For the past year I have been a regular visitor to the South Coast on business. I discovered the Anchor Bay Motel at Greenwell Point early last year and was so impressed with the rooms and location I have made it my base. The rooms are quiet, comfortable and impeccable and the position near the water, wharf and park give me respite after a busy day. But the really special part is Garry and Jeni, the friendliest moteliers you are ever likely to meet. I cannot recommend this motel highly enough.

A great place to kick back and relax.

Posted by Paul and Julie from Cronulla

Have visited this location several times a year for past 8 years, always a pleasure to arrive. Rooms are always clean and well serviced, hosts Jeni and Garry always go out of their way to be helpful and obliging in any way they can. They are two of the nicest people you could wish to meet. We will keep returning at every possible opportunity.

Absolutely wonderful!

Posted by Shirley from Sydney

I was fortunate enough to find this little gem a few years ago and, as a relatively new Australian, always take friends visiting from overseas for a stay there. It becomes a highlight of their trip to Oz and I have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending it to everyone. I always enjoy visiting Anchor Bay Motel and seeing the delightful and helpful owners again. Thanks for many happy memories, Jen and Garry - keep up your high standards and I look forward to seeing you frequently.

Best Time - thanks so much

Posted by Deb and Brian from Bundeena

Anchor Bay is our reason to travel south from Sydney - terrific accom and fab hosts in the loveliest setting. Drift down through Kiama and Berry, trundle back through Kangaroo Valley and relax in this friendliest motel. The location is great, rooms are spotless and you cannot meet nicer folk than Jen and Garry. We look forward to seeing you again soon and thank you so much for yet another wonderful getaway. Great! If you like a cockroach or two, or three or fourty.....

Posted by Traveller1 from Melbourne

From the outside the motel appears to be well looked after and the owner's hospitable, however what should have been a relaxing 2 night stay to begin our holiday turned into a sleepless, cockroach ridden night. Worst of all we only noticed the problem when they began to appear later in the evening. I have never stayed in such disgusting accommodation in all my life and to top it off we were refused a reimbursement for the horrid night. Therefore if you wish for a peaceful night, there are many better options availble than this motel. Please don't risk it!

Response from Anchor Bay Motel

A devastating review for a little motel that prides itself on its professionalism and cleanliness. We immediately inspected the room after the complaint was made and were unable to find any evidence of an "infestation". However, when we pulled out the fridge we did find several tiny insects, a minute species we have not seen here before. We promptly baited and sprayed the room and continued through every other room in the motel. We did not find a single insect in any other room. We are a small, hands-on operation and take extraordinary pride in providing quality accommodation. The previous reviews reflect this commitment. We urge anyone with concerns after reading this review to call us and discuss the situation. We did refund a night's accommodation (after offering an upgrade to an alternative room) and would have gladly refunded the first night ($59) if we felt the complaint was genuine and not vexatious.

Secret Escape

Posted by Robyn and Dave from St Ives, Australia

This is the second time we have visited this little gem on the South Coast, and it's as beautiful as the first time. It was our wedding anniversary and the waterfront deluxe room was perfect. The view over the water is spectacular and the owners couldn't have been more helpful. We spent lazy days at the beach and walking in the national park and enjoyed a lovely meal at Pelican Rocks. A wonderful escape from the rat race...and excellent value.
