Step back into yesteryear and enjoy good old fashioned country comfort and hospitality at Beaufort House, situated on the main street of historical Adelong, a “National Heritage Listed” gold mining town. Ask about our good old fashioned Country welcome.

Beaufort House is perfectly located halfway between Sydney and Melbourne, a short drive east of Wagga Wagga, or for those traveling south a short drive out of historic “Dog on the Tuckerbox” town, Gundagai. It is only a 90 mins drive to Mt. Selwyn ski fields.

  • Unique within the region, Beaufort House offers you a combination of accommodation, boutique hotel style rooms and 4 motel units, so take your pick and enjoy the ambience of the boutique hotel atmosphere or for those who enjoy a little privacy, choose a motel unit, neither will disappoint. As Beaufort House accommodates only 26 guests at any one time you quickly gather a feeling of being “Special” because at Beaufort House all guests are “Special”.

Functions

Providing all the modern facilities of today, yet with the comfort and charm of yesteryear, The Beaufort House is an ideal choice for weddings and conferences.

The Beaufort House offers function areas and group accommodation in a private relaxed rural setting, and its central location means it is still within easy travelling distance from many centres.

History

Being just 27 kilometres off the Hume Highway on the Snowy Mountains Highway, nestled in the foothills of Kosciuszkio National Park, Beaufort House and Adelong, steeped in history, make a memorable stop over or getaway.

The site where the Historic Beaufort House stands today was originally the ’Old Commercial Store’ which was built in 1858 and whose customers would have included many hopeful prospectors hoping to make their fortunes on the diggings at Adelong during the Gold rush.

  • Circa 1864, the Commercial Hotel opened its doors on the site, which was later rebuilt in 1926 as a two-storey establishment, and stands today as the Beaufort House. The entrance doors of the hotel still carry the ’C H’ symbols on its windows as a reminder of the Commercial Hotel from yesteryear.
