In the centre of town and accessible at all times, Wagga Beach is an artificial beach on the banks of the Murrumbidgee River. Cool down along the sandy water's edge or relax on the shaded lawn, whatever the activity, Wagga Beach is popular during the summer months. There are also barbecue facilities available, so picnic on the banks of the river or go for a swim. Canoeing is also popular.
The Wagga Beach Life Saving Club was an elite band of men which patrolled Wagga Bathing Beach for approximately 40 years. The club came officially into being in 1927 and officially disbanded in December 1971, just short of its 50th birthday. The Museum of the Riverina has a small, but nationally significant collection of memorabilia relating to the Wagga Beach Life Saving Club. This includes the Edwardian period gate pylons from the Wagga Bathing Beach, a WBLSC swimsuit (c. 1940s), badges, medals, trophies, a blazer, the Club's lifesaving reel (pictured above centre) and photographs.
