The last stop on the way to Queensland, Tweed Heads neighbours so close to QLD's Coolangatta that you really get two towns into the bargain.
However, Tweed Heads is one of New South Wales' most realised beach resorts, making a great rival to the famous Surfer's Paradise. Its marvellously maintained beaches are a highlight of the region and spectacular views can be attained from the high rise accommodation.
There are also licensed clubs for those inclined to have a little flutter without wanting to cross the border.
