Fingal Bay is the most easterly township in Port Stephens, surrounded by the Tomaree National Park, a majestic bay and a patrolled surfing beach, it is just five minutes from the heart of Nelson and Shoal Bays. The northern head of the bay is known as Fingal Spit and Point Stephens, the southern head is Fingal Head.

Fingal Bay has a resort, a boat ramp and fishing is permitted from both the beach and from Fingal Head. Whales can be spotted offshore between September and November and occasionally in the early winter months.

Cabbage Tree Island can be seen from the sandy shores, this is the home to one of the worlds rarest birds the Gould's Petrel. While visitors are prohibited from the island the surrounding waters are an excellent place to dive.

Fingal Island is connected to Fingal Bay by a sandy spit and can be crossed only at low tide (take care crossing the spit; it can be dangerous).
