The village of Anna Bay is the gateway to the Stockton Beach Sand Dunes, an amazing natural feature of the Port Stephens Shire. Surrounded by spectacular beaches and the 32 kilometres of moving sand dunes, Anna Bay is an ideal getaway for 4WD and fishing enthusiasts less than 3 hours drive North of Sydney.
Anna Bay has a village shopping centre where you can stock up on the basics for your stay. As well as accommodation, the village's facilities include a supermarket, ATM, fuel, bottled gas, chemist, coach stop, EFTPOS, pub, mechanical services, medical facilities, newsagent, public telephone, restaurant, takeaway food, and places of worship.
The entire Port Stephens Shire is a naturally beautiful area, with plenty of reasons to visit all-year-round. During the warm summer the area is a great escape for Sydneysiders after quieter beaches than Sydney can offer. In spring the whole area comes alive with native wildflowers, while the weather is still pleasantly warm. From late May through July the area is an excellent place to watch the thousands of migrating whales pass by.
The famous local dolphin population are in the area year-round, and the fish are always biting regardless of the season at Anna Bay. Birubi Point is the northernmost point of the 32 kilometres of Stockton Beach, a popular spot for surfers, and departure point for 4WD Adventure Tours of the extensive sand dune system.... the largest moving coastal sand mass in the southern hemisphere.
