Truly spectacular!

Fantastic location

Posted by tipsy from Largs, Australia

We stayed here for our first anniversary. Absolutely wonderful location, the lagoon pool is beautiful and it is so nice to step out of your door and into the pool (I think the extra money for a swim out unit is worth it!). The food at the cafe was nice.... not spectacular but OK, as was the service. We did have a problem with a light switch shorting out in our room, but the receptionists were extremely helpful, and we were immediately moved to another room (actually an upgrade as it turned out) and offered free breakfast. I do agree with a previous reviewer about the weeds on the patios, they probably need to keep on top of that a bit more. Overall though it was fantastic, ideal for families, couples and groups, and I can't wait to go back!!

Great value! Spacious and fantastic apartments!

Posted by eyespytraveler from Vaucluse

We were blown away by the high standard, amazing value and fantastic accomodations.

It's very well maintained, cleaned, properly set up and attention to detail is obvious all around.

The food and beverage part is average and pricey for the quality of food they serve. Come prepared with your own breakfast and have it on your balcony - you'll be more relaxed and make the most of your beautiful accomodation.

It's not private as all the units share a common wall between them and the distance across each unit is enough for you not to afford running around the rooms indecently.

There's plenty of activities to keep everyone occupied; tennis courts, great pool, gym, spa treatments and of course there's the beach close by.

I would highly recommend it for families. It's not for honeymooners or for romantic getaways or people with pets.

Looking a bit tired...needs some work

Posted by perry51 from Forestville, Australia

My family has stayed here 3 times (1st time just after opening)..we considered it the best resort we have ever stayed at....BUT..this time, Jan 2009, noticed that maintenance and general upkeep is lacking, we had 5 globes out in our room (took 3 calls to get a response and eventual repair), the A/C has now broken down (yesterday was the hottest day/night in 10 years) and will be 4 days before they can get someone..and it took 2 calls and an email to get a response (this is what annoys me the most, no call-backs to advise what is happening).

While not terribly important, there are weeds growing on most of the balconies making it look a bit run-down. The restaurants are quite good but the service leaves a bit to be desired (quality staff is hard to get up here so I am told)...the buffet breakfast is very mundane (recommend cooking in the room).

Best resort

Posted by emwa123 from Umina, Australia

My stay at the oaks was beautiful if you want luxury, fine dining in the resort, wonderful rooms and so much more pacific blue is the way to go. it’s for couples or families with the 1.5 k long pool that gently wraps around the whole resort. Even the males that don’t like holidays they will have a ball.

Amazing...

Posted by meg101 from Brisbane, Australia

Salamander Bay resort is a perfect getaway for families, couples or groups of friends. The pool is amazing, it wraps itself around the entire resort and there are little beach areas for children. The pool is not deep and so is ideal for children. The rooms are modern and 6 star, if you like luxury then you'll love the interiors.

The restaurant/cafe is open all day so a good coffee is on hand when the need arises! I highly recommend a facial from the onsite beauty spa.

Will bring the family on my next trip to the Bay.

Fun, fun and more fun!

Posted by big mamma from Newcastle, Australia

My partner, I, & our 2 kids stayed in January school holidays & had the time of our lives. We travelled by coach as we don’t drive. Our room was a 2 bedroom apartment. Kids had their own apartment with own bathroom, TV, large balcony & 2 king size single beds. Our apartment had a large lounge room, large balcony, a kitchen to die for with a dishwasher, all self contained, a king size bed with ensuite AND A SPA. Both apartments overlooked the lagoon. We felt like we were on a tropical island. Everything was close by & buses go everywhere. It was a sad day when we had to leave but will definitely go back.

The one bedroom was spacious and comfortable as was the lounge dining and the kitchen was fully equipped. Good bed and bathroom with spa. Easy location will go back again and again.

Awesome Weekend

Posted by ksullivan from Sydney, Australia

My partner and I just returned from the Oaks Pacific Blue Resort. We had a 1-bedroom lagoon swim out apartment and it was absolutely fantastic. The apartments were lovely, very modern with 2 fantastic plasma tv's (not that we watched them all too often), a LG mini disc system and the rooms are also very spacious. The lagoon is beautiful, lovely too look at and even better to swim in. The resort itself has really good facilities. They have created a beach-like sitting area by the lagoon with sand and banana chairs. There is also a restaurant and a bistro. We did not go to the restaurant as we ran out of time however the alfresco bistro was great food was very quick and they were large serving sizes. The only let down is that the beach is not within walking distance. You really need to go to Shoal Bay or Nelsons Bay for this, which is only about 5-10 mins drive. Shops are close by too, which was also handy. Will definitely be returning!!

Great for teenagers

Posted by superkids from Bateau Bay, Australia

I took my 13year old grand son and my sister-in-law took her 14year old son for 2 nights during the October school holidays. It was great the kids used the steam room, heated lap pool, spa and outdoor pool as well as the plunge pool. We had a 2 bedroom plunge pool, which was great, very private. We ate at the resort for all meals, actually the only time we left the resort was to take the boys to the Toboggan park, which is just up the road. Can't wait to go back.
