Belmore Basin played a large part in Wollongong's early development as a busy sea port. This is now a popular foreshore spot with barbecue and picnic facilities, restaurants and playgrounds.
All overlooking the picturesque harbour, Belmore Basin is studded with lighthouses, Norfolk Island Pines and flanked by golden surfing beaches. Belmore Basin is home to a large fishing fleet as well as attracting plenty of pelicans.
Wollongong annual Australia Day celebrations are centred around this area.
