Almost local

Posted by kylie1986 from Campbelltown, Australia

I have 2 disagree strongly with the lies the local has written about coledale. I have been camping at Coledale at lest 15years and a member of the surf club for almost as long.

Yes the camping ground is fully booked during the period of Christmas and New Years, and most school holiday it also becomes pretty full.

I also have to say I have never experienced, the muddyness. Coledale is growing in popularity, but is still less packed then Austi. Hope this is more helpful.

Great Family Getaway

My family have been camping here for 40 years or more. Generations have enjoyed Coledale, and now my brother and sister and I bring our children here every year. Great bargain holiday, just kick back & relax!!!!

Our Kind of Paradise

I am not sure how often you can wake up (legally & safely) right on a beach and watch the spectacular east coast sunrise at a budget price.
Coledale offers a kids safe, friendly, quiet environment with very basic facilities, mostly unpowered sites. We have camped there every Christmas for years and wouldnt change it a bit.

The beach is patrolled, clientelle varied in ages and background, only 700m to the train station, short stroll to the local club and shops, rock fishing and beach pool a short walk. The perfect place to unwind, read lots, let the kids make new friends and enjoy the natural beauty the South Coast provides.

Be advised to book ahead for holiday periods as it is very popular, perhaps I should have kept this place our family secret.

Nice, but not.

Posted by a TotalTraveller from Austinmer, Australia

From a local person: true it is a nice place, but it is always packed out even in the off-peak season, as it is such a very small space (no more than 200m long), and everyone seems to know about it. The ground is also usually muddy as 4WD vehicles are constantly driving over the camping ground. There is also no hot water available, and it backs directly onto a main, busy road.

World Class Retreat

Coledale Beach Camping Reserve is perfect for an inexpensive holiday. Being close to Sydney it is very accessible and absolutely perfect for a stress free holiday. The beach is well patrolled and it is a kids paradise. It can be visited by train as well.
