Muswellbrook is the centre of the picturesque rural countryside of the Upper Hunter, which has benefited in recent years with the growth of the mining, power and wine industries.

This historic town is the perfect base to explore the glorious Upper Hunter. Muswellbrook is surrounded by world-class wineries and thoroughbred studs and is just a short drive to the real Australian Bush in the rugged Wollemi National Park or Goulburn River National Park.

Take a stroll along the renowned Heritage Walk in the heart of town with many of the CBD buildings dating back to the mid-1800s. Visit the Regional Art Centre - there’s something on all year round.

Bring your golf clubs and enjoy a round at the excellent Muswellbrook 18-hole course. Visitors are always welcome to this classy sporting facility. As well, become a part of nobility on a day at the races at Muswellbrook’s magnificent Skellatar Park Race Track.

All visitors are to make sure you bring the boat and fishing gear. In the neighbouring district you can access the crystal clear waters of Lake Glenbawn, a haven to giant Golden Perch (Yellow-Belly) and the famous fighting Australian Bass.
