Clarence Town is believed to have been the seventh oldest settlement in the country. It was the Hunter Valley’s centre for shipping until the railway came to Dungog in 1911. Clarence Town is located a short drive south of Dungog on the Clarence Town Road.

Today, there are many historic buildings that have withstood the test of time and provide an in depth insight into Australia’s pioneering past. However, the Williams River is the major draw card to Clarence Town. A heaven for water skiers, Clarence Town provides camping facilities right on the edge of the water. Boats are moored within easy distance. The river is wide and conditions are perfect for skiing.

This is a calm spot and the natural landscape is stunning. The main accommodation is camping with various tourist parks. If you prefer, there is the local hotel that offers short term stays. The local store has everything you could possibly require in Clarence Town.

For the ultimate camping holiday in the Hunter Valley, Clarence Town is the ideal spot.
