Narromine is considered the best gliding area in Australia and one of the three best in the world. Pilots from around the world visit Narromine every year, and the State and National Gliding Championships are held here on a regular basis. The Australian Ultra light Federation's annual Fly-in, NATFLY, is held at the Narromine Aerodrome every Easter, which results in over 300 visiting aircraft. Narromine's rich aviation history has resulted in the construction of the Narromine Aviation Museum.
Narromine offers excellent opportunities for fishing, water-skiing and other water sports on the Macquarie River, which flows past the town.
Narromine and its surrounding shire is a predominantly rural area, renowned for wheat, cotton, fat lambs, citrus, corn, maize, sorghum, barley, oats, canola, soybean, Lucerne, sorghum, roses, irises, and lavender.
