This park has sandstone landscapes rich in Aboriginal art. You can see engravings at Bulgandry on Woy Woy Road and there are sweeping water views from Warrah Trig and Staples Lookout. Brisbane Water National Park covers a large area of sandstone country between Gosford city and the Hawkesbury River. The bush is often scrubby but there are many fire trails which provide access to walkers.
The park contains many aboriginal carvings on flat rock shelves. The unpleasant scrub means that most of these sites are seldom visited. However, the NPWS has provided an easy sign-posted walk to a good example of these carvings at Bulgandry on Woy Woy Rd near Kariong.
Excellent views of the park can be obtained by climbing Mt Wondabyne. This can be reached by walking from Bulls Quarry on Woy Woy Rd.
