Kangaroo Valley

Nestled between the neighbouring regions of the Southern Highlands Shoalhaven, just 2 hours from Sydney or Canberra, Kangaroo Valley has been described by many as 'the most beautiful valley in Australia'.

With one of the most enchanting and picturesque small villages in the state, Australian and international visitors have described their stay in Kangaroo Valley as inspirational, tranquil, relaxing, refreshing and a place of incredible beauty.

It is difficult to do justice to the beauty of Kangaroo Valley, a delightful scenic area of rich green pastures and sparkling creeks and rivers, enclosed by magnificent escarpments of native bush, sandstone cliffs and rainforest with a unique country village at its centre.

There are many things to do in Kangaroo Valley from visiting the famous historic Hampden Bridge and Museum Park, canoeing, bike riding, horse riding, bush walking, winery, scenic drives to Tallowa Dam, Upper River and Fitzroy Falls, to visiting the many craft shops and art galleries. There is a selection on restaurants and cafes serving excellent cuisine.

Only 20mins from Nowra you'll come into the magical expanse of rolling, lush pasturelands. On your way there don't miss going to the lookout at the top of Cambewarra Mountain for spectacular views of the Nowra and the coast.

If coming down from the highlands, don't go past Fitzroy Falls where you can view one of the most magnificent falls in the area where you can also enjoy bushwalks.

Today the Kangaroo Valley township is a small village of about 280 residents. It is a tourist destination surrounded by a small number of farmers and a large number of weekend residents and people who have a few hectares and have escaped the bustle of city life.
