A primary cherry-growing area - the Annual Cherry Festival commences on the last weekend in November - it's located close to both Cowra and Cootamundra and is also renowned for its growth of other delicious winter fruits.

Initially founded as a mining town, historical remnants of that golden era make Young a great sightseeing destination for those interested in Australia's pioneering legend.

Chinaman's Dam, established by two Dutch brothers in the 1860s, is just four kilometres out of the town and has an extensive recreation and aquatic reserve, while Blackguard Gully Goldmining is a three-hectare area dedicated to prospecting.

Features

  • Blackguard Gully Reserve and the Burrangong Art Gallery, a truly rewarding experience
  • Stock up on jams or dried fruit at JD's Jam Factory or Anne's Cherrygrove, to name just a couple
  • Lambing Flat Folk Museum - try your hand at gold fossicking
  • Verity Prune Factory and Orchard Tours
  • In November soak up the revelry of the Cherry Festival
  • Wine tasting is a must as the Hiltops area is renown for the exceptional fine wines produced
  • Visit a 'pick your own' cherry orchard
  • Chinamans Dam
