There are three major scenic trails in Canberra, that entice sight seers and visitors alike to a variety of experiences. Track 1 – Ngunnawal Country, Track 2 – The Limestone Plains and Track 3 – Looking at Canberra.

Track 1 - Ngunnawal Country. Take this new self-drive Aboriginal heritage trail which connects many sites by well appointed onsite signage. Grab a Canberra Tracks information brochure from the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre and journey into the human story of Indigenous presence in the nation’s capital. See how Indigenous people have lived here for at least 20,000 years surviving through intricate knowledge of the landscape, skilful custodianship of the land and traditional teachings passed down from generation to generation. This trail will take you through grasslands, river valleys and the mountains and show how the Ngunnawal people moved through the landscape seasonally.

Track 2 - The Limestone Plains. Discover a land explored and colonised by convicts and free immigrants before the establishment of Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth. The track brings to life this pastoral era with engaging signage at some of Canberra's most significant historic sites. These include Duntroon Dairy, Blundell’s Cottage, St John's Church, schoolhouse and graveyard, Government House Lookout, Lanyon Homestead, Calthorpes'House and Old Parliament House. Grab a Canberra Tracks information brochure from the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre and step back to a time when this was part of NSW.

Track 3 - Looking at Canberra. Connect these great hilltop views with this new self-drive lookouts tour. Onsite signage explains Canberra's most important planning feature: how the city, suburbs and towns are placed within the landscape rather than enforcing a grid structure. Grab a Canberra Tracks information brochure from the Canberra and Region Visitors Centre and tour a purpose-built capital city still in the making — a place of national and international significance.
