Situated between Chapman and Kambah, Cooleman Ridge is about 3.5 km long with an area of 187 ha.
Offering extensive views over Canberra and the Brindabella mountain range, the highest point on the ridge is Mt Arawang.
Cooleman Ridge has been grazed by sheep and cattle for over a hundred years and consequently has many exotic grasses and weeds.

Blue-tongue lizards, kangaroos, echidnas, kookaburras, rosellas, parrots, robins, cockatoos, white-faced herons and long-necked tortoises are among the many wildlife species that can be seen at Cooleman.
