Berghofers Pass was constructed between 1907 and 1912 and used until 1920 an alternative to Victoria Pass to allow a gradual ascent of the escarpment for early motor vehicles. Today the track allows for a pleasant walk or bike ride with views into the Hartley Valley and opportunity to view the original convict built rampart supporting the Great Western Highway.
