Basket Swamp is an important wetland of heaths and sedges. It cleans, stores and slowly releases water throughout the year into local creeks, and eventually to the coastal Clarence River system.
This is a woodland park without facilities and suits self-reliant bushwalkers. It adjoins Boonoo State Forest, which has a picnic and camping area with tables and toilet. The park includes Timbarra Lookout and gives access to nearby Basket Swamp Falls and the Woollool Woolloolni Aboriginal area.
