Overview
Bookmark

As the largest sheep and cattle sales centres in the state, Gunnedah, has a long history from beginnings in the 1830's as a tiny settlement known as "The Woolshed".

Gunnedah also boasts an association with Dorethea MacKellar's epic poem 'My Country' and Jean Isherwood's illustrations of the poem feature prominently at the local Creative Arts Centre.

Moderate weather also makes this a welcome habitat for a healthy Koala population.
